Economic Development and Revitalization Task Force

The Economic Development and Revitalization Task Force has jurisdiction over a broad range of issue areas including Infrastructure, Broadband, State Stabilization, Energy, Environment, Land Management, and Taxes.

Federal Priorities

  • Safeguarding federal funds for state stabilization, infrastructure, and water resources;
  • Economic Development Administration reauthorization and strengthening public financing;
  • Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) implementation;
  • CHIPS and Science Act implementation; and
  • Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) implementation (providing guidance on federal implementation, including the fair and appropriate use of drought relief funding).

Technology And Energy Innovation – 2023 NGA Winter Meeting

Building off recently enacted federal legislation – such as the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), the CHIPS and Science Act (CHIPS), and the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) – Governors are at a historic crossroads to propel American competitiveness by providing solutions to challenges in energy production and transmission, climate, mobility, and semiconductor manufacturing. At NGA’s Winter Meeting, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear and South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster led a discussion on Governors’ Leadership in Technology and Energy Innovation with: Alejandra Y. Castillo, Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Economic Development, U.S. Department of Commerce; Maria Robinson, Director, Grid Deployment Office, U.S. Department of Energy; Amy B. Spiller, State President, Ohio and Kentucky, Duke Energy; and Aamir Paul, President, North America Operations, Schneider Electric.
